Eric and Mills will explain Reaching Quiet's approach to design and client relations, illustrated by photos and an island unit of his own design. The island/bar unit incorporated bamboo plywood, oriented strand board, stainless steel and 8" thick concrete counters with features such as trivets, drainboard, integral sink and a cutting board insert.
Reaching Quiet won the Best of Show award in the 2007 third annual Cheng Concrete Exchange Members’ Circle of Distinction Design Challenge.

Alla is a Professional Engineer with a unique, environmentally friendly approach to concrete countertops. She will describe geopolymers and show a general method of making them. Geopolymers are completely free of Portland cement, and can be made entirely from waste products and offer an environmentally friendly alternative to ordinary concrete.
